Our children are our legacy. The way they act reflect on their parents

 The Little Things In Life

© Nancy M. Elingson

One day I came into your life,
as an empty little page;
On which your every word, or action,
Will forever be engraved .

So keep in mind when you're upset,
the authority that you hold;
Your every word, and every action,
My tender little heart will mold.

As I grow, I will make mistakes,
And at times I'll frustrate you.
Remember, It'll take years to see,
The hurt harshly spoken words will do.

Always diligently take the time to consider,
Whatever actions you choose to take.
I know sometimes I will need correction,
Be mindful, my character do not brake.

When I have grown, I will bring you joy,
and fill your heart with delight.
For you will see the time you've taken,
has encouraged me to do what's right.

I will bring respect to your name,
Never sorrow, or disgrace.
Then just like you, I will too,
make this world a better place.

Young Ones break Stonebreakers

Samukele Manzini
Soshanguve Young Ones recorded a hard fought 2-1 victory over a 10 men Mabopane Stonebreakers, in a SAFA Tshwane under 17 champion’s league match at the Giant stadium on Sunday.
A second half brace from the boot of Neo Sehlahla gave Young Ones a two goal advantage, after Stonebreakers defender and captain, Katlego Madibane, was sent off, for protesting for a penalty in favour of his team. Stonebreakers pulled one back through  substitute Jonas Mazibuko, who converted a penalty, after star midfielder, Palatshi Mogomotsi was fouled in the 18 area box, 15 minutes before full time.
In the opening minutes both teams packed the midfield, attacking each other through the wings and down the centre but never threatening to score. Young Ones kept good shape at the back frustrating Stonebreakers’ dangerman, Buti Paul, who made good runs into the box but his finishing, let him down as most of his shots went wide or straight at goalkeeper Tebogo Malema. 15 minutes into the match both teams started to find some spaces on the flanks, particularly Young Ones, who used the right flank to attack. Stonebreakers were not convincing when clearing the ball from the back but their goalkeeper pulled off some good saves. Buti Paul found himself in a one on one situation with Young Ones keeper but the striker failed to beat the keeper shooting straight at him. With half time approaching, Young Ones’ Neo Sehlahla started troubling the Stonebreakers defence but unable to find the gaps to shoot at goal. Young Ones defence could not match the pace of Stonebreakers’ wingers and so resorted to playing the offside trap, that helped them keep the score 0-0 going into the half time-break.
The second started like the first half, with both teams not keeping the ball on the ground. Stonebreakers’ midfield combination of Palatshi Mogomotsi and Tokologo Sebotsane won the midfield battle, spreading some good passes to the wings but their attacking players’ poor decision making and finishing let them down. Both teams were not able to build from the back but long passes were played to the middle then to the flanks, with Young Ones using the left flank and Stonebreakers the right flank to attack. Stonebreakers started to gain the upper hand, seeing a lot of the ball but were restricted to either shooting from outside the box or  taking a defender on, that in most attacks led to corner kicks, which they failed to make use to score.
Shortly after Stonebreakers captain Katlego Modabane was sent off, his defence started opening gaps at the back and Neo Sehlahla capitalized from those gaps to give his team a 1-0 lead. Stonebreakers started defending desperantly  and were distorted and losing possession easily,  Young Ones camped in the opposiion half, in search of the second goal and were rewarded when Sehlahla made it 2-0.
A counter attack from Young Ones led to their penalty that was converted by substitute Jonas Mazibuko. The game ended 2-1 in favour of Young Ones. Young Ones coach Norman Baloyi gave credit to his defence for minimising Stonebreakers’ attacking players . “We kept a good shape at the back and did not allow the ball to bounce” he said. Stonebreakers coach Ishmael  Malacaca was spliting fire at the end of the match blaming the referee for the loss. “The  referee won them the match but I’m happy with the way my midfielders controled the match” he said. The win takes Young Ones to 10th on the log depending on other results.

Africa Day Not Adequately Promoted in South Africa

Sibusiso Banda

Today, 25 May 2011, we are celebrating Africa Day. This is one of the most important days in the African continent’s history. During the past few years we have seen Johannesburg starting to celebrate the day, largely ignored in South Africa’s past as the country was going through apartheid.

This year I have not seen a single poster or heard even a two minute feature on radio or television.
On this day 48 years ago, leaders of thirty-two independent African States met to form the Organisation of African Unity (OAU) in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Then only two thirds of Africa had achieved independence from colonial rule. At this historic meeting the date of Africa Freedom Day was changed from April 15th to May 25th and Africa Freedom Day was declared African Liberation Day (ALD).

African Liberation Day has been held on May 25th in every corner of the world since but what is amazing is that the day is that is celebrated as Africa Day across the continent and as a public holiday in many countries to commemorate the achievement independence and active roles played by our every own African nationalist leaders such as Ghana’s Kwame Nkrumah, Tanzania’s Julius Nyerere and even our very own Nelson Mandela just to mention a few.

Strangely countries such as South Africa, Kenya, Namibia, Tanzania, Zambia don’t have public holidays on the day. Why these countries don’t celebrate it is a mystery which has been dragging unsolved for almost 5 decades. But various experts, analysts and professors such as Tawana Kupe, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities at Wits and Associate Professor of Media Studies believes that it’s both the African and western media that is responsible for tarnishing African cultures by promoting western values in their broadcast.

Others even go to the extreme length of shedding the blame to the youth a as “they are easily

westernised”.

To how far we believe all these analysis “as truth” is up to an individual system of belief but what I can say is that the youth needs to decide how to embrace and promote values in every day situations.

By doing so we need to start thinking critically about the information we consume from the media, most importantly let’s starting embracing our African brothers and sisters with the same love and protection we give to family because after all we are all humans who live on the African continent.

ACCUSATIONS, ACCUSATIONS!!

Diego Maradona says Argentina players took banned drugs before a qualifying match for the 1994 World Cup.
He accuses FIFA vice president Julio Grondona, the head of Argentina’s Football Association, of being in on the scheme. Maradona says there were no drug controls for the 1993 qualifier against Australia in Buenos Aires.

He claims the team doctor put a banned stimulant in their coffee. Argentina won 1-0 and advanced to the tournament in the United States, where Maradona was later expelled for a positive drug test and team lost in the quarterfinals.

Maradona said Monday on television that Grondona had to know all about it. Grondona had no immediate comment. Grondona has denied the accusations.

Man U SUPER WITHOUT RONALDO

Manchester United have become a more complete team since the departure of Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo at the end of the 2008/09 season, according to Barcelona fullback Daniel Alves.
Ronaldo moved on to Real Madrid for a world record fee following Barca’s 2-0 win over United in the 2009 Champions League final in Rome and the Catalan club face the English Premier League champions again in Saturday’s final in London.
Alves told reporters at a media open day at Barca’s Nou Camp stadium that Manchester is much more unpredictable without Cristiano Ronaldo

who's taking the PSL title?

If the Premier Soccer League were a horse race, a camera would be needed to decide the winner tomorrow.
The league's closest finish yet, three teams are in line to succeed Supersport United as champions.  Any one of Ajax Cape Town, Orlando Pirates or Kaizer Chiefs can end the dominance that United had over the PSL between 2007 and 2010.

The winner will be reveled tomorrow!!!

Sharks host the Bulls

All eyes will be on King's Park tomorrow when the Sharks host the Bulls in what is a pivotal Super 15 match for the defending champions in their efforts to stay alive in the competition.

The Bulls have already lost five times this year and cannot afford another slip-up, while a home defeat for the Sharks would also be a blow to their play-off aspirations.

There are key match-ups all over the field, but the contest between flyhalves Morné Steyn and Patrick Lambie will be the most intriguing.

Steyn has spearheaded the Bulls' last two victorious Super rugby campaigns and has established himself as the Boks' No 1 flyhalf. But his form over the past six months has been mediocre, while Lambie has burst on to the scene in the same period.

Cristiano Ronaldo up for sale

Real Madrid is ready to stun the football world by putting Cristiano Ronaldo up for sale for a staggering £150million. It is understood that a major rift has developed between the star Portuguese forward and Madrid manager Jose Mourinho following a training-ground row, and club president Florentino Perez is reluctantly willing to listen to offers.
Madrid paid a world-record fee of £80m to Manchester United in 2009 and Perez has said he would want to make a significant profit to appease the supporters for the sale of their best player. Ronaldo, after all, was seen as Madrid’s answer to the dominance of Barcelona.

TUT OPEN DAY.....

Sibusiso Banda

I SMELL TROUBLE....!!

Stormers coach Allister Coetzee has had to name an inexperienced backline for tomorrow's crunch Super 15 match against the Blues in Auckland because injuries have ravaged his team. Springbok centres Jean de Villiers and Jaque Fourie are out, De Villiers with a chest injury and Fourie with groin strain. Former flyhalf Peter Grant has pulled out with an ankle injury.

Juan de Jongh and Johann Sadie will pair up in a new midfield combination while Lionel Cronje will take over the flyhalf duties, which he fulfilled so well before the tour when Grant was recovering from a knee injury.

Sadie will make only his second appearance in Super rugby after a superb outing on the wing against the Crusaders a fortnight ago. He is more used to playing centre, but losing three vital cogs in the backline is a nightmare in a match against a top New Zealand team that could have huge consequences for the Stormers' season.

Two weeks ago, the Stormers were comfortably in the top two on the overall standings. Even Sharks coach John Plumtree conceded that it would be difficult to stop them topping the SA conference. But back-to-back defeats against the Crusaders and Chiefs have left the Cape side just one point clear of the Sharks with three tour games to come.

Radamel Falcao commits to Porto after another crucial goal.

The Colombia striker re-affirmed his desire to stay at Porto next season after scoring his 38th goal of the season to seal a 1-0 victory over Braga in yesterday’s Europa League final.
The 25-year-old had broken Juergen Klinsmann’s record 15-goal haul in the competition during the semi-finals when he scored five gainst Villarreal and by heading in the winner he took his tally to 17.
The striker has said he is happy at the Portuguese side, whom he joined in 2009 from Argentina’s River Plate.

Pitso Mosimane announced the squad this morning

Chiefs star Punch Masenamela, Ajax Cape Town star Thulani Serero and Wits player Bhongolwethu Jayiya have been included in the Bafana Bafana squad for the African Nations Cup qualifier against Egypt in Cairo on June 5.
The squad will assemble on Sunday, but Steven Pienaar, Happy Jele and Andile Jali will join their teammates later
Bafana Bafana are ranked 38th in the world, moving just one spot from the 39th position they occupied last month. South Africa is now fourth on the continent – swopping places with Nigeria who fall to fifth place.
Ghana, Ivory Coast, Egypt retained the top three positions.

Does “happily ever after” exist?

By Sibusiso Banda

“H
appily ever after” is there such a thing?, While I was watching the live broadcast of Prince William and Kate Middleton on television exchanging vows, the question came into mind when a friend of mine made an interesting comment while thinking-aloud, about Prince William being Khanyi Mbau’s next potential target.
Don’t get me wrong, the royal wedding was romantic and magical. Thousands of people, patriotically cheering and holding England flags, came to witness the play out of real life fairytale of Prince William and Kate parading the street before and after they tied the knot. The experience was just beyond words, it was like something out of a book. But now, let’s move away from fiction and came back to reality.
We live in a world where a street parade is not as tolerated as potholes and traffic, and where magic does not exist and we certainly don’t kiss frogs.
I know you probably think I’m jealous of Prince William and Kate’s wedding but well I’m not. I’m happy for them, actually I wish them the best. I know you probably don’t want to hear this but people get into marriage for wrong reason, some for money, others for fame and others well for fun and status. Just for the record, I’m not insinuating anything about the royal couple, all I’m saying is guys love to hit and run (cricket) and some women do it better. It’s a sport, and that’s just the plain reality. Only facebook, crime, corruption and abuse exist in his world not fairytales. Yes I know the truth not only hurts but it is also hard to admit it.
I know some of you may totally disagree with me on everything, but before you voice our opinions ask yourself this, why do we have high divorce rates? Then now rethink what you were about to say...and tell me if “happily ever after” does exist?

Services SETA CEO vindicated in court

Mail & Guardian reports that Judge AC Basson of the Labour Court on 3 May found that Minister of Higher Education and Training Blade Nzimande’s suspension of Services Sector Education Training Authority (SETA) CEO Ivor Blumenthal on 12 April was unlawful and that Nzimande exceeded his power in changing the SETA’s governance structure.

Basson ruled that Nzimande had not consulted adequately with the Services SETA before changing the constitution.

The ruling was in response to the urgent interdict application launched two weeks ago by the Services SETA and Blumenthal, who was awarded costs against the minister.

Since his appointment in May 2009 Nzimande has made wide ranging changes to the SETA landscape, including the dissolving of the Media Advertising Publishing Printing & Packaging (MAPPP) SETA, under which the film and television industry fell. Of the 21 SETAS that were in existence, only the Services SETA has challenged the Minister to date.

Beyonce Knowles and Jay-Z are reportedly set to renew their wedding vows next year.
The superstar couple – who married on 4 April 2008 – recently had a romantic break in Paris, France, and while they are keen to start a family together in the future, they want to prove their love for each other first by renewing their vows on their fourth wedding anniversary.

A source told Now magazine: “In Paris, Beyonce told jay she wanted to have another wedding ceremony before seriously considering babies. Jay jumped at the chance to prove again he’s committed forever.
“Bey saw a couture wedding dress she wants while they were there, but the cute thing is they’re both superstitious about the number four – which is why they married on the fourth day of the fourth month. They’ll have four years of marriage behind them next year and they want to make it a big one. They’ve set aside over $1 million for it. Expect bling like you’ve never seen before.”
While they are busy planning their vow renewals, the couple celebrated their three year anniversary with a romantic trip to Paris, where no expense was spared.
The source continued: “They combined work with their anniversary and Jay pulled out all the stops to make it special. They flew in his private jet and stayed at Le Meurice hotel, which overlooks the Tuileries Palace Gardens. It’s the most expensive hotel in the city by far. Their suite had a private kitchen, a glass enclosed dining room and huge open-air terrace.” – Bang Showbiz
