Residents of Soshanguve came out in full swing to make their voices heard in the local municipal elections. In block H, thousands queue the long lines in Phumzile Primary and Rhulani Secondary school voting stations in a bid to cast their votes.
Voters who casted their votes in Phumzile Primary were extremely happy with the way the voting station handled the voting process.
“It was fast and with the help of the IEC officials we were able to cast our votes quickly and simple without any problems” remarked the 79 year old Mathews Ntuli, who came with his wife Sarah to cast his vote.
First time voter Tshidi Booi, who casted her vote early, was surprise at how fast it took to cast her vote. She regards the experience as wonderful.
“I was expecting a long line, so I woke up early but I was surprised at how quick the lines and plus the voting process took...I was just a wonderful experience to be part of.

At the Rhulani secondary school voting station hundreds of people patiently waited in long queues.
Thabo Mahlo was optimistic about this year’s local municipal elections.
“This year’s elections are no longer about popularity but are more about who has the potential to deliver and at the same time run the country in a sensible way. That’s why I won’t leave this queue until I make my vote!”
Mathews Motho, IEC Official, was happy about the turn out.
“The turnout was great. At first the older generation dominated but as the day went on the young generation came all out in large numbers.”
Warrent Ngwaradi, who was observing the election process, was also happy about the whole election process, saying “so far there haven’t been any problems”
