The word “brilliant” is what comes into mind when I think of Terry Flew’s book on New Media. I’ve only read two chapters so far but I can assure you that it’s not only easy to read and understand but it is also insightful.
The first chapter deals with the conceptualisation of the meaning behind the new media. Flew points out the mistakes or views associated with other definitions of the new media concept. The way he does it is quite amazing, as even I never even thought of how far previous definitions are narrow-minded in their scope.
Before indulging further on how some of the inventions lead to the build-up of the current state of Technological media development, he narrates the reader through important historical internet inventions. His narratives are impressive; it is like he is holding your hand with his words every step of the way.
The second chapter is based on the collection the most important concept, which one cannot be able to leave out when talking about the new media. Through his explanations, He brilliantly shows those concepts how they complement and are an extension each other. Making it a wonderful read of internet development.
